1. Data controller

The data controller is fuoco07109, a private developer established in Italy. For privacy-related requests, contact: fuoco07109@gmail.com.

2. Scope and features of the App

This privacy policy describes the processing of personal data in the Android app Calcvert, hereinafter the “App”. Calcvert is intended for users who are at least 16 years old. It is free, does not contain advertising, and does not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions.

The App does not require the creation of a Calcvert account and does not directly ask for a name, address, phone number, or payment details.

3. Data stored on the device

Depending on the features used, Calcvert may store locally:

  • expressions, results, and calculation or conversion history;
  • graphing projects, titles, formulas, view settings, and previews;
  • preferences such as language, theme, number format, and the user’s choice regarding optional statistics;
  • exchange rates and the date of their update.

This content is not sent to the developer simply because it is saved. It can be removed using the controls available in the App, by clearing the App data from Android settings, or by uninstalling the App.

Android backup and data transfer, if enabled by the user, the device, or the Google account, may include the App’s databases and preferences, including history, projects, and settings. The related processing is managed by Google according to the user’s settings. Exported files remain in the location chosen by the user and must be deleted separately.

Purpose and legal basis: to provide the features requested by the user and store preferences; Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, where applicable.

4. Import, export, and sharing

When the user imports, exports, downloads, or shares a project or an image, Android and the apps or services chosen by the user handle the file. Calcvert does not control any subsequent use made by the recipient app, messaging service, or selected storage provider.

5. Exchange rate updates

To update currencies, Calcvert contacts the public service Frankfurter. The request contains the technical parameters of the requested currencies and the information necessary for network communication. The provider may receive, among other things, the IP address, the date and time of the request, and technical connection data. History, projects, expressions, and calculation results are not sent to Frankfurter.

Purpose: to provide updated exchange rates. Legal basis: performance of the feature requested by the user, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, where applicable.

6. Optional usage statistics and diagnostics

Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics are disabled by default. They are activated only after the user has given express consent. Refusing or withdrawing consent does not limit the App’s main features.

If enabled, these services may process:

  • App openings, screens and sections viewed, and time spent in the foreground;
  • conversion categories and units, completion of valid previews, and exchange rate update status (successful, unsuccessful, or use of offline data), without the amounts or dates entered;
  • completion or failure of calculations and solutions, problem type (equation, inequality, system, expression, or numerical calculation), degree, number of rows, indication of approximation, duration, and technical error category;
  • opening of solution steps and families of solving methods consulted, without the text of the problem, steps, or solutions;
  • creation, saving, opening and importing of graphing projects, number of expressions, and use of analysis, without project identifiers, names, formulas, or content;
  • changes to preferences such as language, DEG/RAD, decimal separator, number format, theme, and animations; language selected in the App and system text size range;
  • technical outcomes of Google Play update and review flows, within the limits described in section 7;
  • approximate country, region, and city derived by Google Analytics from the IP address at the time of collection. The App does not access GPS, request location permissions, or send precise coordinates; Google states that it discards the IP address after deriving the location;
  • App version and technical or pseudonymous installation identifiers;
  • device model and characteristics, Android version, device status, and device resources;
  • date and time of events, crashes, non-fatal errors, stack traces, and data needed to diagnose the issue.

Calcvert’s custom events are designed not to contain expressions, results, history, project titles or content, email addresses, or any other free text entered by the user. The data is pseudonymous and not necessarily anonymous: installation identifiers allow events to be associated with the same installation without knowing the user’s real identity. Personal profiles, age, gender, or occupation are not requested. Collection of the advertising identifier and consents for advertising personalization are disabled.

Purpose: to understand in aggregate form which areas of the App are used, identify malfunctions, and improve stability and user experience. Legal basis: consent, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Consent can be changed in Settings → Info. Withdrawal stops future collection, resets Analytics data and the identifier on the device, and requests deletion of Crashlytics reports that have not yet been sent; it does not make previous processing unlawful and does not necessarily result in the immediate deletion of data already transmitted, which follows the provider’s retention periods.

When this information about statistics is expanded, a positive choice relating to the previous version does not automatically activate the new collection: the App requests consent again to the updated description. Previous negative choices remain respected.

7. Google Play

If Calcvert is installed through Google Play, the App may use official services to check for or install updates and occasionally show the review prompt. Google processes the required technical and account data according to its own privacy policy. Through these features, Calcvert does not receive Google account credentials and does not directly receive the text of the review.

Only with consent to statistics does Calcvert record technical categories such as request, start, postponement, completion of the flow, or error. The review API does not allow the App to know with certainty whether the prompt appeared, whether the user left a review, or which rating they chose; these facts are not recorded as if they were confirmed.

8. Advertising, purchases, and automated decisions

Calcvert does not integrate advertising SDKs, does not display ads, does not use Google Play Billing, does not sell digital products, and does not collect payment data or purchase tokens. Data is not sold and is not used for advertising profiling or automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on the user.

9. Recipients and external processors

Depending on the features actually used, data may be processed by:

  • Google and affiliated companies, for Google Play, Android backup and transfer, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics;
  • the Frankfurter service provider, limited to exchange rate requests;
  • apps and services chosen by the user to open, share, or store files.

The developer does not receive the user’s local content unless the user voluntarily chooses to send it, for example by attaching it to a support request.

10. International transfers

Google and other providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, such transfers are governed by adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or other mechanisms provided for by Articles 44 et seq. of the GDPR. For further details, the privacy policies and terms of the respective providers apply.

11. Retention

  • Local data remains on the device until deleted by the user or the system; any backup copies depend on the user’s Android and Google settings.
  • Stored exchange rates are replaced by later updates or deleted with the App data.
  • Google Analytics for Firebase data is retained according to the project’s retention configuration and Google Analytics rules.
  • According to current Firebase documentation, Crashlytics retains crash traces and associated identifiers for 90 days before removal from active and backup systems.
  • Exported or shared files remain at the chosen destination until the user or the relevant provider deletes them.

12. Security

Calcvert adopts reasonable and proportionate measures, including HTTPS connections to network services. Local data benefits from the protections offered by Android and the device. However, no system can guarantee absolute security; it is the user’s responsibility to protect the device, the Google account, and exported copies.

13. Nature of provision

The creation of history or projects is necessary only if the user chooses to use the related features. Communication with Frankfurter is necessary to obtain updated exchange rates. Consent to Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics is entirely optional and may be refused without losing the main features.

14. Data subject rights

In the cases provided for by the GDPR, the user may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability of data processed by the controller, and may withdraw consent at any time. Requests can be sent to fuoco07109@gmail.com.

Because local content is normally not accessible to the developer, the most direct way to manage it is to use the App controls or Android settings. For processing carried out independently by Google or other services, the user may also exercise their rights through the controls and contacts made available by the relevant provider.

The user also has the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority: www.garanteprivacy.it.

15. Minors

Calcvert is not intended for children under 16 and does not knowingly collect their data. If the developer is informed of processing relating to a minor in conflict with this limitation, the developer will take reasonable measures to stop or delete it.

16. Provider links and information

  • Regional collection and approximate location in Google Analytics
  • Firebase privacy and security
  • Google Privacy Policy
  • Frankfurter service

17. Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated to reflect changes to the App, the services used, or the law. Substantial changes will be published with a new update date and, where necessary, communicated in the App or accompanied by a new consent request.
